Dear Younger Me: A Letter to My 30-Something Self from the Cowch

Published on 1 June 2025 at 19:39

Dear 30-something Me,

First of all, you’re doing better than you think you are.

No, seriously — wipe that mascara tear, put down the pint of rocky road and listen up.

From my cozy seat here on the Cowch, a few decades down the line, I see you.

I see the late nights worrying if you’re enough.

I see the second-guessing every choice — the job, the house, the relationship, the shoes (okay, keep the shoes).

I see the way you hustle, trying to get it all "right."

And I want to tell you something that’ll set you free:

You are already enough. Right here. Right now. Even with the mess. Especially with the mess.

🌟 Here's What I Wish You Knew:

  1. That Body You Criticize? It's Glorious.

One day you’ll wish you took more pictures instead of picking yourself apart.

Dance more. Eat the cake. Wear the swimsuit.

(And if you need a cozy Cowch day after dancing, my go-to is THIS chunky knit throw blanket — just sayin’. 🛋️)

Spoiler: No one remembers your jean size — they remember your laugh.

  1. Perfect Isn’t Real

All those people you’re trying to impress? Half of them are just as lost as you are (and faking it better).

Your life will not look like a Pinterest board, and honestly, thank goodness for that.

Sip something strong and luxurious while you embrace the beautiful mess.

(I highly recommend this luxury coffee blend that fuels my best thinking — and laughing.) ☕✨

  1. You Can’t Fast-Forward to the Good Parts

Every heartbreak, every hard left turn, every “what now?” moment — it all builds the woman you’re becoming.

Stop rushing. The magic isn't just at the finish line; it's baked into the messy middle.

Want a little help savoring the slow? Try keeping a reflection journal like this 52 Lists for Happiness — it’s like a love letter to yourself in slow motion. 💛

  1. Protect Your Peace, Like a Mama Bear

Not everyone deserves a front row seat in your life.

Boundaries aren’t mean — they’re holy.

Boundaries are beautiful — so are comfy slippers when you finally kick people out of your energy bubble.

(These memory foam slippers are Cowch-approved cozy.) 🧸👣

Learn to say, “That doesn’t work for me,” and watch your whole world shift.

  1. You Are More Resilient Than You Know

You will survive things you can't even imagine yet — and you’ll come out softer, not harder.

You’ll find strength wrapped in grace, in laughter and in letting go.

And sometimes, you just need to swipe on the red lipstick and face the world.

(Nothing beats this legendary red lipstick when you need a little "I’ve got this" energy.) 💋🔥

💬 And Because I Know You Love a Good List:

Wear the red lipstick.

Take the trip.

Start the business.

Kiss him (or don’t).

Forgive yourself.

Buy the really good coffee.

Trust the slow unfolding of your own beautiful story.

🎯 Final Thoughts from the Cowch

From where I sit now — legs tucked under me, favorite mug in hand — I want you to know this:

You don’t have to do it all perfectly.

You just have to keep showing up, loving big, laughing loud and believing in the woman you are becoming.

The best parts?

They’re still ahead.

And baby, they are so worth it.

With love (and a wink),

Your Future Self 🛋️💖
