There's a fierce and fabulous tribe of women rewriting the rules of business, family and success every single day — they're called *mompreneurs*. And sometimes, they come in pairs.
We’re two sisters, co-founders of Cowchtalk LLC—authors, content creators and life enthusiasts who started our business to bring in extra income while juggling real-life responsibilities. Both of us are married to disabled veterans and have raised and homeschooled our kids who are now productive young adults. We may not be dealing with diapers anymore, but the challenges and rewards of building a business while managing family life are as real as ever.
This is our behind-the-scenes look at mompreneurship. It’s raw, honest, sometimes messy and always meaningful.
The Rise of the Mompreneur Movement
Mompreneurship isn’t just for the moms with littles at home. We are living proof that this journey evolves. As seasoned moms, we were driven by the need to contribute financially while creating something meaningful—a platform to inspire, uplift and connect with others.
Cowchtalk began with an idea: two sisters sharing wisdom, humor and life hacks from the cowch (yes, that’s how we spell it!). With technology at our fingertips and a desire to live life on our terms, we dove into blogging, affiliate marketing, YouTube videos and authorship.
Our mission? To create content that resonates with mature women who have champagne taste on a beer budget, and to show that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
Our daily grind looks a lot different than it did when our kids were small. Now, it’s juggling doctor appointments for our husbands, managing content calendars, brainstorming new blog posts, creating YouTube videos, responding to emails and keeping up with comments across multiple platforms.
A typical day might look like this:
Who am I kidding there is no typical day!
Days start with quiet time...perhaps to journal or pray and enjoy the first cup of coffee for the day.
We usually set the following week on Fridays. An outline of what we need to accomplish if you will. Scheduling posts for the month, writing blogs, creating YouTube videos.
We check our emails, respond to messages and comments on posts. If we are not meeting in person we are communicating during the day via messenger or text while we are running errands, accompanying husbands to appointments or other real-life stuff.
We have structure but allow plenty of flexibility. We've learned to give ourselves grace when plans change - because they always do.
The Emotional Rollercoaster
Mompreneurship is a ride. Some days, we feel like superheroes. Other days, imposter syndrome creeps in.
There are moments of guilt—for needing alone time, for working through dinner, for wondering if we’re doing enough. And yet, there are powerful highs—like publishing our books, receiving messages from women who were inspired by our content or watching our vision come to life.
We lean on each other as sisters, but also on our small circle of support. Faith, mindset work, laughter and self-care keep us centered.
Building a Business Around Real Life
We don’t work in nap-time sprints anymore. Instead, we build around real-life commitments: caregiver responsibilities, grown kids coming home from work or college with big life updates or supporting our spouses through tough health days.
That means we’ve had to master efficiency. Tools like planners, Canva and Trello app help us batch-create and stay consistent. We’ve learned the art of working smarter not harder and saying no to things that don’t align with our goals.
And yes, we absolutely schedule in fun, rest and sister chats.
The Power of Purpose
Everything we do at Cowchtalk is rooted in purpose. We want to inspire women to live fully, spend wisely and think abundantly.
We didn’t start with all the answers—just heart, hustle and a shared dream. But purpose is what kept us going when the website glitched, when views were low or when life got heavy.
Every comment, every book sale, every new subscriber reminds us that our work matters.
Our Kids Are Our Cheerleaders
Having older children brings its own kind of joy. They’re not in the trenches with us, but they cheer us on from the sidelines.
They give us social media tips, celebrate our wins and sometimes lovingly roast our YouTube bloopers. Best of all, they see two women who didn’t let age, circumstance or fear stop them from dreaming big.
It’s not just a business. It’s a family legacy in the making.
Breaking the Myths
Let’s clear up a few things about mompreneurs like us:
- "It’s just a hobby." Nope, Cowchtalk is a legitimate, growing business.
- "You must have a lot of help." We wish but the truth is we do most of it ourselves, with late nights, research and hard-earned skills.
- "You're lucky to have time." Haha, we make time. Between caregiving, life and business, every hour counts.
- "It must be easy with grown kids." Well, it’s different, but not necessarily easier. The challenges just shift.
We’re proof that success isn’t linear, and that women in their 40s, 50s and beyond have so much to offer.
Celebrating the Wins (Big and Small)
From publishing our books to reaching new milestones on YouTube or connecting with a reader who says, “You made my day,” we celebrate it all.
We’ve learned not to wait for "big" wins to feel accomplished. Every task checked off, every new piece of content, every collaboration—it all counts.
Sometimes, just showing up with a smile is a win. And we honor that.
Wisdom from Our Journey
Here’s what we’d tell any woman starting out:
- “Start where you are.” It doesn’t have to be perfect.
- “Don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 20.”
- “Be consistent.” Small steps every day lead to big results.
- “Take care of yourself.” You’re the engine. Give yourself grace where needed.
- “Do it scared.” Fear is part of the process.

Legacy and Love from the Cowch
Cowchtalk is more than content. It’s connection.
We’re building something that reflects our values, our journey and our voice. Through our books, blogs, social posts and YouTube videos, we invite women to pull up a seat on the cowch and be part of a movement that says: You are never too old, too late or too limited to create the life you love.
To every woman navigating family, purpose and business—we see you. We’re walking it with you. And we believe in what you’re building.
Here’s to redefining success, sisterhood and what it means to live and work with heart.
Love, Tallulah
